WittiMitti isn't just a baseball brand; it's a passion project brought to life by a family that lives and breathes the game. We are a 100% family-owned and operated business founded in 2024, and our goal is simple: to bring fun, quality, and innovation to the base paths and beyond.

Our Driving Force: Passion, Play, and Innovation

At our core, we believe that sports must be fun. Having a good time is just as important as a good swing. We also firmly believe that sports are an amazing teaching tool, fostering discipline, teamwork, and resilience. This dual focus drives everything we do, from the quality of our gear to the creative elements we build into each product.

Our flagship product, the WittiMitti Sliding Mitt, perfectly embodies this spirit. It features interchangeable patches that allow players to easily customize their look and personality every time they step onto a base. It's about letting players express themselves and adding a personal flair to their game.

The strength of WittiMitti lies in the diverse experiences of our family.

  • Mike Stankovitz – The Idea Guy & Founder: For 35 years, I've been immersed in the world of baseball—playing, coaching, watching, and even running a league. My decades of experience give me a unique vantage point to spot opportunities and needs within the game that others might miss. As the “idea guy,” I conceptualize new products, work through the designs, and lead the charge in bringing them to life. My background includes 14 years as a Health and Physical Education teacher, which reinforces my belief in the positive power of athletics.
  • Vanessa Stankovitz – Head of Operations & Apparel: A long-time and avid baseball fan, Vanessa is the force that keeps the business running smoothly. She is the head of our apparel division and, perhaps most importantly, she's the one who keeps me organized and in line! Her knack for organization and detail ensures that every aspect of WittiMitti is executed with precision.
  • The Next Generation – CJ and Brandon: Our sons are not just names on an organizational chart—they are the pulse of our brand. CJ (13) and Brandon (11) have been on the field virtually their whole lives, playing ball since the age of three. CJ, our older son, was practically raised in the dugout, watching dad coach high school baseball from the time he was born. They both play competitive travel baseball, taking part in top-tier tournaments like Ripken and PG across the country. They offer invaluable, authentic feedback from a player's perspective, contributing to everything from product design to marketing efforts. They are the truest form of product testers and proof that WittiMitti is a commitment from every member of our household.

The WittiMitti Origin Story

It seems like we answer the question a dozen times a day: "WittiMitti? How did you come up with that?" The answer is pure family ingenuity and a backyard brainstorming session.

The idea for WittiMitti was born out of frustration. We watched players purchasing multiple sliding mitts just because they wanted a new design or a fresh look. Buying multiple mitts for aesthetics alone seemed absolutely ridiculous—there had to be a better option! We envisioned one quality sliding mitt that allowed players to easily and affordably change its look whenever they wanted.

Bringing the Idea to Life

After speaking to many individuals within the baseball world and realizing that we may actually be onto something, my son and I decided that we were going to bring this thing to life. We were going to start a company! I believe learning about business is one of the most amazing tools a child can have and my son was interested, so we were all-in. First order of business, we needed a name for these new sliding mitts—a name that was as different and catchy as our product.

The Backyard Eureka Moment

The naming process stalled in our backyard one afternoon. It was my son CJ, his Aunt Johnna and myself, throwing around ideas that were just… okay. Nothing had that memorable spark. Finally, I looked at my son and said, "Come on, you’re witty, come up with something!"

Aunt Johnna stopped us right there. She had her moment of genius. She realized the truth: "All of the patches are going to feature fun witty sayings, and it's a mitt. How about WittiMitti?"

The second she said it, my son's face lit up with a huge, undeniable grin. It was perfect. It was a clean fusion of the witty spirit of our patches and the core product—the mitt.

And that’s how WittiMitti was born. It’s more than a name; it’s a constant reminder that the best business ideas come from family, a focus on practicality, and a whole lot of collaborative wit.
